What's the course about
This course will help you and your peers get off to a flying start. It’ll help you get hands on with the platform in ways that immediately benefit your work and journey as an ethical change maker.
You’ll be introduced to the purpose of the platform and the evidence that seems to suggest that #MakingBetterTogether is needed right now. You’ll get closer to Greater Than Learning’s community values of Connection, Collaboration, Commitment and Consequence. You’ll start engaging with key platform and community features. You’ll learn how to make the platform part of your ethical action toolkit. You’ll even start developing working knowledge of how to become a course creator.
Who is this course for
This course is for all community members wanting to learn the basics of the platform and get more involved with making better, together.
Mat is an autodidact, adept generalist and co-founder of Greater Than Learning. He’s spent 2+ decades working across diverse roles and exploring the systems levers that catalyse positive change.
He’s led cross functional product teams, and trustworthiness and data ethics initiatives with everything from complex fortune 500 companies through to early stage start ups.

LESSON 1: ETHICAL INTENT TO ACTION GAP
In this lesson you learn about the ethical intent to action gap, what it is and what it means in business. You get an understanding of how this gap impacts trust and learn about the relationship between ethics and competence when it comes to trust.
LESSON 2: TINY STEPS. COMPOUNDING EFFECTS
In this lesson you get exposed to the basics of the BJ Fogg behaviour model and how this is relevant to your own behaviour change journey. You’ll learn how many people taking small actions daily leads to compounding effects and how all of this can relate you personal and professional contexts.
LESSON 3: THE LEARNING MODEL
You’ll develop a basic understanding of the learning model we use and the 3 primary networks of the brain involved in learning. You’ll learn about the fields we draw upon to develop learning experiences and how this all relates to closing the ethical intent to action gap.
LESSON 4: SOCIAL LEARNING
In this lesson you’ll cover the basics of what social learning is and some of the theory behind it. The distinct aspects of the platform it relates to and how this approach to learning can help us to have a positive impact on the world around us.
LESSON 5: CORE LEARNING STREAMS
In this lesson you’ll learn about the basic differences between designing for trust vs trustworthiness. How the platform has been designed to help you enhance the the organisational qualities of trustworthiness and you’ll begin exploring how you can take this understanding into the work you do.
LESSON 6: EXPERIENCE POINTS AND COMMUNITY CREDS
In this lesson you’ll cover the basics of these points systems and how they can be earned, lost and used. You’ll get an understanding of how they operate as a proxy for reputation and how these systems might evolve to help us all have a positive impact on the world around us.
LESSON 7: ECOSYSTEM CREDENTIALS
In this lesson you’ll cover what Open Badges as digital credentials are and how they are used in the platform. You’ll explore how these credential systems can evolve in the platform and broader ecosystem to contribute to positive impact on the world around us.
LESSON 8: ECOSYSTEM LEARNING ENGINE
In this lesson you’ll cover the basics of the learning marketplace, the focus on ethical action toolkits, and how course creators will be supported to design learning experiences. You’ll learn about validating toolkits for effectiveness and some of the future iterations we envision will enable the whole ecosystem to learn better, together.
LESSON 9: EVOLVING BETTER, TOGETHER
In this lesson you’ll cover the basics what participatory design is, why it’s important to achieving our purpose, the core principles that guide the overall approach, and what areas of the platform it is applied to. And how this connects to closing the ethical intent to action gap.
LESSON 10: YOUR FIRST QUEST
In this lesson you’ll learn how to set out and plan your journey to close the ethical intent to action gap. You’ll get hands on with techniques to support you in developing a blueprint to put into action and reflect on what this all means to you in your personal and professional life.
